Do you offer financing?

Yes. We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express. We also have a financing program with Wells Fargo to fit any financing needs you may have to install your new roof.

What are my options if I decide to re-roof?

You have two basic options

1. You can choose a complete replacement of the roof system, which involves tearing off your existing roof system

2. You can also re-cover the existing roof system, involving only the installation of a new roof system. If you've already had one re-cover installed on your original roof system, check with a professional roofing contractor. In many instances, building code requirements allow no more than one roof system re-cover before a complete replacement is necessary.

How can a homeowner recognize when a roof system has problems?

All too often, roof system problems are discovered after leaking or other serious damage occurs. Periodic (twice-a-year) inspections often can uncover problems. These include cracked, warped, or missing shingles; loose seams and deteriorated flashings; excessive surface granules accumulating in the gutters or downspouts; and other visible signs of roof system problems.

You can also look for roof problems indoors, such as cracked paint, discolored plasterboard and peeling wallpaper. These are good markers of damaged roof areas.

My roof leaks. Do I need to have it replaced completely?

Not necessarily. Leaks can result from loose flashings or a damaged section of the roof system. A complete roof system failure, however, is generally irreversible and a result of improper installation or choice of materials. Another cause of leaking could be that the roof system is inappropriate for the home or building.

Can I do the work myself?

Roof work should be by a professional. Professional roofing contractors are trained to safely and efficiently repair and replace roof systems. Damage to roof system occurs when improper roofing techniques are used. Severe injuries can also occur by falling off of or through a roof.

Home and building owners should confine roof maintenance to the fall and spring seasons. Checking for cracked and curling shingles, and removing leaves and debris from gutters are necessary procedures.

If you feel the need to inspect your roof own your own, use a firmly braced or tied –off ladder equipped with rubber safety feet. Also, wear rubber – soled shoes and remain on the ladder if possible.

Most new roof systems are designed to provide useful service for about 20 years. Some roof system types can last longer; such as slate, clay, tile, and certain metal (e.g., copper). Actual roof system life span is determined by a number of factors. These include local climate and environmental conditions, proper building and roof system design, material quality and suitability, proper application, and adequate roof maintenance.

Roofing product manufacturers offer a variety of warranties on their products. Take a close look at manufacturer warranties to see what responsibilities and financial obligations the company will assume if their products fail to reach life expectancy.

What will a new roof system cost?

The price of a new roof system varies widely, depending on selected materials and contractor; the type of home or building, location, local labor rates, and time of year. However, price is only one factor, and it must be balanced with the quality of thematerials and workmanship.

Each roofing material has different grades and corresponding prices. There are also a variety of styles and shapes. You need to look at the full product range and choose materials based on your budget and needs.

Within the roofing profession, there are different levels of expertise and craftsmanship. Insist on a contractor who is committed to quality work.

When is the best time to install or repair a roof?

There is no “best time” to put on a roof. Scott Roofing Company installs roofs year round. There is no difference in quality, look, or longevity whether the roof is installed in January or July!
