Sprayed Polyurethane Roofing Systems

Spraying a roof with Polyurethane Foam Sprayed Polyurethane Foam (SPF) is a roofing system that provides a unique approach to combat the extreme heat and weather conditions here in Arizona. The system is lightweight, non-toxic, durable, and weather-resistant. SPF reduces energy costs and noise. It also allows for contours to create slope and drainage on any roof. SPF is ideal for unusual shapes and configurations on even the most challenging roof designs, and creates a long-term envelope of protection to your home or facility and its contents.

What is Sprayed Polyurethane Foam?

SPF stands for Sprayed Polyurethane Foam, a closed cell roofing and insulation material. SPF provides a seamless, monolithic, waterproof barrier with continuous flashings. SPF adheres to most vertical and horizontal surfaces. In Arizona, SPF is commonly sprayed at a depth of about 1" to 1-1/2" thick. The final layer is a fluid-applied protective coating that highly reflects the sun's UV rays as well as protecting the foam itself from deterioration. SPF roofing systems can be applied quickly and safely. As with any roofing system, a quality application requires skilled craftsmen, proper equipment, and the right materials.

Benefits of SPF
  • Total monolithic waterproof barrier
  • Provides better climate control on any building envelope
  • Reduces cooling and heating costs
  • In some cases can be applied directly over an existing roof membrane, eliminating the cost of tear-off.
  • SPF roofs are renewable! With simple recoats of the acrylic topcoat, SPF roofs can far exceed the life expectancy of many conventional systems.
